Displaying the students’ artwork on the LGO Tipi Liner at Payepot School on June 20, 2024.

In August of 2020, the Lieutenant Governor’s Office purchased a tipi to be used for ceremonial and educational purposes at Government House. The tipi included a large liner and Lieutenant Governor Russ Mirasty saw that blank liner as an opportunity to engage youth in an artwork project.

His Honour invited students from Carlton Comprehensive High School  in Prince Albert and Chief Payepot School of Piapot First Nation to create artwork to cover the canvas. The students learned about “tipi teachings” and what they learned helped inspire their original, vibrant paintings that now cover the liner.
