Saskatchewan Prayer Breakfast is coming back with guest speaker Carol LaFayette-Boyd
The Saskatchewan Prayer Breakfast is coming back! Wednesday, April 19th at 8 a.m. at Conexus Arts Centre in Regina
Tickets go on sale Monday, March 20th on the LGO website.
Established in 1971, the Prayer Breakfast has been an annual event - until the pandemic hit. Now, for the first time in three years community members can come together in person to share friendship, food, fun and faith. The Breakfast is organized by a volunteer committee lead by Lieutenant Governor Russ Mirasty, who will also MC the event.
More information will be available soon, but we can tell you that this year’s inspirational speaker is Regina’s own Carol LaFayette-Boyd. Carol is a former psychiatric nurse and social worker and is the current volunteer Executive Director of the Saskatchewan African Canadian Heritage Museum.
Carol is also an elite athlete. She decided at the age of 50 to participate in a Masters Track Meet and she has been ‘hooked’ ever since. Today, the 80-year-young lady has been named the World Masters Athletics “Female Athlete of the Year”- for the second time! In 2022, Carol broke six world records in the W80+ age category (two indoor and four outdoor)!!
Carol has a story to tell. She says: “Nothing is impossible, if you think you can, you can. Never give up, keep going… I tell them about my experience of running my first 200 at age 50 with a time of 32.72 and 15 years later at age 65 running the 200 in 29.66… For those who are Christian believers, I tell them what I quote before I run or jump. My quote is: ‘I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.’ - from Philippians 4:13”
