Lieutenant Governor Russ Mirasty to host event on National Day for Truth and Reconciliation at Government House
Lieutenant Governor Russ Mirasty will host a public event on Friday, September 30th, National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, which is also known as Orange Shirt Day.
This event will take place from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on the grounds of Government House at 4607 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, near the Saskatchewan Residential School Memorial. The public is welcome, and chairs will be available. The students from neighbouring Luther College High School will be attending. In case of rain, the concert will move inside the Luther auditorium, just across the lawns at Dewdney Avenue and 1500 Royal Street. After Lieutenant Governor Mirasty welcomes everyone, Elder John Stonechild will provide a blessing. This will be followed by a special musical performance by Brad Bellegarde.
Brad is a proud Nakota/Cree member of the Little Black Bear First Nation and grew up in Regina, spending much of his summers on Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation. He mixes hip hop music with storytelling focused on his First Nations roots. During the Royal Visit celebrating Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012, Brad performed for the former Prince of Wales, now King Charles III, and his Queen Consort at First Nations University of Canada in Regina.
