Lieutenant Governor to host Governor General at Government House in Regina

COME SAY HELLO TO OUR GOVERNOR GENERAL AT GOVERNMENT HOUSE!

Their Excellencies the Right Honourable Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada, and Whit Fraser will make their first official visit to Saskatchewan on Monday, April 22nd, 2024.

As part of this official visit, Lieutenant Governor Russ Mirasty and Donna Mirasty will welcome Their Excellencies to Government House and you are invited to greet Their Excellencies as they arrive.

Members of the public are asked to be in place by 12:15 p.m. near the historic Portico Entrance of Government House at 4607 Dewdney Avenue in Regina.

Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon was sworn in on July 26, 2021, as Canada’s first Indigenous governor general. She is the 30th governor general since Confederation.

Mary Simon was born on August 20, 1947, in Kangiqsualujjuaq, Nunavik (Quebec), to Nancy May (Angnatuk-Askew), her Inuk mother, and Bob Mardon May, her English father who worked for the Hudson’s Bay Company.

Ms. Simon gained national and international recognition for her work on Arctic issues and for her efforts in advocating for Inuit rights, youth and culture.
