Office of the Lieutenant Governor Annual Activity Report

The Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan represents the Sovereign in our province. The position is non-partisan and apolitical, yet is essential to the successful workings of our form of government - a constitutional monarchy. The responsibilities of the Lieutenant Governor are varied and his schedule is busy. Their Honours Russ and Donna Mirasty host and attend events throughout the province, greeting people and bringing best wishes on behalf of His Majesty King Charles III. Lieutenant Governor Russ Mirasty is the Honorary Patron of many organizations and annually presents numerous prestigious awards.

2022-2023 was a historic year with the celebration of Queen Elizabeth II’s 70th anniversary as monarch and the presentation of 7,000 Platinum Jubilee Medals to deserving Saskatchewan people in Her Majesty’s honour. Later in the year, Canadians joined people around the world in mourning Queen Elizabeth’s passing. We also welcomed a new monarch and eagerly awaited His Majesty King Charles III’s coronation. This photograph was taken in September 2022 in Wascana Park in Regina, just north of the Legislative Building. Flowers were placed in memory of Queen Elizabeth II at the base of the statue of Her Majesty riding her favourite horse Burmese. The horse came from Saskatchewan and was a gift to the Late Queen from the RCMP.
