Accession Proclamation Ceremony for King Charles III at Government House

At the Accession Proclamation Ceremony, that was held on Saturday, September 10th at Government House in Regina, Lieutenant Governor Russ Mirasty read the proclamation, signed by Premier Scott Moe, announcing King Charles III as our sovereign.

His Honour also led those gathered in a Loyal Toast to His Majesty and honoured Her Late Majesty. All in attendance joined in singing God Save the King, most for the first time ever.

Guests were invited to sign the Book of Condolences as well.

His Majesty King Charles III had been proclaimed earlier during the day in the United Kingdom at the Accession Council in St. James’s Palace in London. This ceremony is the formal method of sharing the news of a new sovereign taking the throne upon the death of the previous monarch. A similar ceremony was also held at Rideau Hall, with the King’s Privy Council for Canada issuing an Accession Proclamation under the Great Seal of Canada.
